There are only two kinds of steel fuel tanks. Ones with rust inside and ones that are going to have rust inside.
Oxygenators, like a ethanol, and other additives used by virtually all fuel manufacturer today have one big disadvantage. They attract water out of the air which accelerates the rusting process.
This rust will be pronounced in the fuel tanks of vintage tractors which are often subject to extremes of temperature and humidity and many sit for months between use. Sooner or later, that rusty sediment is going to get between the fuel and the combustion chamber, causing finicky starting and a lurching gait. For the truly unlucky, that rust will manifest itself midway through the 4th of July parade.
To beat rusty fuel tank problems once and for all Davenport Tractor is introducing a full line of composite fuel tanks. Yes, composite, the same material used to make modern aircraft.
Each Davenport Tractor composite tank is carefully molded to the exact dimensions of the original equipment. The fill Neck and fuel drain are solid metal and molded in place. Therefore your present fuel cap and fuel bowl will fit perfectly.
About the only way you will be able to identify a tractor that has one of our composite fuel tanks is that it doesn't need to be pushed over to the side of the road in the middle of the parade.
